What's happening this Christian Aid Week?
Come and enjoy the Holy Corner book sale at Morningside United Church, Edinburgh on Saturday 11 May (10.00am - 5.00pm), Sunday 12 May (1.00pm - 5.00pm) and Monday 13 May (10.00am - 12.00pm). Can't make it but still want to give your support? You can do so on the Holy Corner website.
David Donald from Holy Corner's organising committee said:
The sale takes place between 10am and 12pm, with a £4 entry cost for adults and £1 for children. Home baking, teas, and coffees will also be available.
There is still the opportunity to buy books on Sunday 19 May after the church service, until 12.30pm.
Many churches across the country have held booksales in recent years, including in Falkirk and Aberdeen. Although they are not happening this year, there are more events to join!
While the popular Christian Aid Week sale at the former St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church in Edinburgh will not take place this year, the church (now called The New Town Church of Scotland) plans to hold a sale in October.
This Christian Aid Week sale has grown into one of the largest charitable sales in the country. After starting in 1973, it became a well-known event with the stalls set up across the bustling Edinburgh pavements. In 50 years, over £3 million has been raised, thanks to your amazing support.
