Work for Christian Aid
The world’s not a fair place, but we believe it should be.
That’s why we work hand-in-hand with local communities to create lasting change, offer lasting hope, and eradicate poverty. We are a global movement of people, churches and partners who passionately champion dignity, equality and justice worldwide. We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart.
Make a transformational impact
- We’re working to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. Our impact is far-reaching and long-lasting. You’ll find us on the front line in Afghanistan, Ukraine and the Horn of Africa. We’re fighting for climate justice – for those who live the reality of climate change every day. We work with people of all faiths and none, and together we have helped people overcome the seemingly impossible. We’re proud to be making a difference in a broken world.
Join us, and you will…

Become part of the family
Call us cheesy – but internally you’ll hear people talk about the ‘Christian Aid family’. It does really feel like that. It’s a place where you’ll laugh a lot and form lifelong friendships; we’ve got each other’s backs and we lift each other up. If you join us, you’ll be expected to live out our values of dignity, equality, justice and love. These are the principles that guide everything we do.
Belong to a team that values inclusivity and diversity
- We strive to be an inclusive and diverse employer, and recognise the value this brings in helping to build strong, creative and high performing teams. We’re committed to addressing racial injustice and creating an anti-racist organisation, where everyone feels that they belong.
- We have Racial Equity and LGBTQ+ staff Networks for internal learning opportunities, knowledge sharing and wellbeing support.
- Gender justice is a core theme of our work and we’re always looking for innovative ways to raise the agenda, like in our recent #AllGirlsRoar campaign.
Be empowered and grow
- We think that work should be somewhere you thrive and develop. Micro-managing just isn’t our style; you should feel confident in your ability to make decisions and share ideas. That’s why we encourage a culture of learning, development and innovation. We celebrate each other’s successes and we learn from our mistakes.
- Our amazing Talent & Learning team put on a wide array of internal training and development programmes, and we attend external conferences and courses too. There are apprenticeships available, and scholarship fund opportunities, or you could attend a Leadership Development course approved by the Institute of Leadership & Management. We want you to learn new skills and grow into your best self!
Enjoy a good work-life balance
- We know how important a good work-life balance is, so we offer flexible and hybrid working. We trust our staff to work from where they want, although for certain roles you’ll sometimes need to come into an office. If you thrive on being around people, feel free to come into the office five days a week.
Be part of an organisation that puts people first
- We offer generous annual leave, in addition to study leave, shared parental, maternity, paternity, dependants and adoption leave. We also offer a holiday purchase scheme, and sabbaticals once you’ve worked here for two years.
- We invest in staff mental health and wellbeing. We partner with Unum, an employee assistance programme partner, who provide you and your family with access to five health and wellbeing services via an app.
- We have regular ‘wellbeing live’ sessions, when we discuss a wide range of topics from mindfulness and stress management, to menopause and being a working parent.
- We offer season ticket loans, cycle to work schemes, income protection, life assurance plans and eye care allowance.
- This year we had our first staff wellbeing event, Flourish, where people were encouraged to attend a day dedicated to sessions covering wellbeing topics from gratitude, mental health and guided walks to yoga and creative writing.
- There are frequent employee engagement activities to make sure we hear your voice.
