Breaking Bread is a guide to hosting newly elected MPs in your church.

You're invited to our Breaking Bread Workshop at Augustine United Church, Edinburgh on Thursday 19 September 2024, from 7-9pm.

This workshop will equip you to meet your newly elected/returning MP. MPs are currently in listening mode, they want to get to know their constituents, so this is an important moment to arrange to see them.

Breaking Bread encourages you to do this as a church using an existing meal/coffee morning taking inspiration from how Jesus often used meals to get to know people, he broke bread with them and chatted to them.

This workshop will:

  • Explore how and why to build a strong relationship with your MP (we will also cover MSPs too!).
  • Reflect on God's call to act justly.
  • Allow you to meet other Christians concerned about global poverty.
  • Provide support for you to start making plans for your church to meet your MP using our Breaking Bread Resource.

So why not come along with a few others from your church to learn more?

Please email Lucy to reserve your place or to ask any questions: LLeRoux@christian-aid.org. Please also email her if you do decide to meet your MP, as this helps with our advocacy work.

You can also download our Breaking Bread Workshop leaflet with key information about the event, to print or share with friends and those interested.
