Sign on letter - UK debt legislation

The UK Government has a unique responsibility to address today’s global debt crisis, as the majority of debts owed by low-income countries to private creditors are governed by English law.  Christian Aid and our partners are campaigning to the UK Government to ask it to introduce legislation to break the deadlock in global debt relief negotiations and enable more debt cancellation. UK legislation can compel private creditors to participate in debt negotiations.

Christian Aid is inviting civil society organisations working in debt crisis contexts to sign a public call for the UK government to introduce debt legislation. Christian Aid will promote this call publicly as part of our campaigning throughout 2024 and 2025. We will share this call, with the list of signatories, directly with the UK government and promote the call in the media.

To sign the call, or find out more, contact Chris Walker at cwalker@christian-aid.org.

If you intend to sign, provide the names of your organisation and a director or another representative for inclusion on the public signatory list. We'll update signatories about our advocacy and media work based on this sign on letter.
